FAQs for Pipe Fittings

When deciding what pipe fitting is best for you it’s important to consider the tubing you are using. For example if you are using flexible tubing then hose tail fittings are best to use but if it’s rigid tubing then compression fittings work the best.

You should also consider what will be passing through the pipes and therefore the chemical resistance of the fitting material and if it’s compatible for that type of fitting. The final thing to consider is the fittings pressure and temperature ratings and if it has the capability of performing at the required temperatures and pressures.

If you are unsure what fitting is right for you then get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

In general pipe fittings should be hand tight especially when working with plumbing fittings as if you over tighten them they can end up warping, resulting in an increased likelihood of leaks. The general rule for all fittings is they should be hand tightened and then another 1-2 turns but no more to ensure there isn’t too much pressure being applied to the fitting.

Couplings are a type of pipe fitting which are used to extend or end pipe runs. They can also be used to change the size of a pipe and repair broken or leaking pipes.

An elbow is a pipe fitting used in plumbing systems in order to connect two pipes of the same or different nominal diameter. The fitting has been bent in order to allow two pipes to be connected at an angle allowing a change in direction.

Camlocks offer quick and easy connections and disconnections, reducing downtime and improving efficiency.
